Frequently Asked Questions

How soon do I need to place my order?

The sooner, the better! My calendar fills quickly. As soon as you know your event date and have secured a venue, request a quote if ordering a custom cake. If ordering a custom wedding cake, request a consultation. Some clients book a year in advance. Don’t fret if time has gotten away from you. Request anyway; it couldn’t hurt to ask. I may be able to accommodate you if I’ve had a cancellation or open date. Dates are not guaranteed without a deposit.

I don’t see a place to request a quote for a wedding cake. How should I do this?

You are correct. You must schedule a consultation for wedding cakes. There are just too many details that need to be discussed. You may send an email, text, or place a phone call to discuss your event. All other orders can be made by requesting a quote.

Do I need to refrigerate my cake?

Once the cake has been delivered, it isn’t necessary. I like to keep my cakes chilled before pick-up or delivery so that it helps with transportation. If you are planning to serve the cake outside during the warmer months, it is best to keep it chilled. I recommend setting it out from 30 minutes to an hour before serving.

What if I have left over cake?

If you are lucky enough to have left over cake, shhhhh! Here is what we do - cut into the size of your choice, wrap in plastic wrap, and place in an airtight container before putting it into the freezer. When you have a sweet tooth, remove from the freezer, and in about 30 minutes, enjoy! If you think it will be eaten within 3—5 days, place in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Do you offer decorated sugar cookies?

I do not offer decorated cookies at this time, but please browse my portfolio for other tasty treats. Macarons are always a crowd favorite!

What flavors are available for macarons?

You can choose from buttercream flavors or ganache fillings for your macarons. Fruit fillings aren’t the best option; they may make your cookie soggy.

Can macarons be colored to tailor my event?

Absolutely! They can be any color you choose. I will try to match inspiration pictures as best as I can.

What is the difference between a layer and a tier?

I get asked this question a lot. Most of my cakes are made with three layers. A layer is approximately 1.5-2” in height, which generally yields a five inch tall cake. Tiers are when one cake is stacked on top of another larger cake.

What are the serving sizes?

Typically, party/wedding sizes are 1x2x5 inches. Let me know if you would like to see a cake cutting guide to maximize the number of servings.

When can I schedule my wedding consultation?

You may schedule a consultation as soon as you have secured your venue so that I may check available dates.

When can I get a Tasting Box?

Tasting Boxes are available on the first Saturday of each month. This day is subject to change due to holidays or other circumstances. A limited amount will be sold, so please place your order early via email.

Can I order a Tasting Box even if I’m not planning a wedding?

Sure! Why not! A limited amount will be sold, so please place your order early via email.

Do I have to have a cake tasting?

Of course not! You may already know what you want.

How do I secure my date with you?

If you are planning for your wedding, your date is secured once we have had a consultation, you have accepted the quote, and paid a 33% non-refundable deposit.

If you are requesting a quote for a custom order, your date is secured once you accept the quote and paid a 33% non-refundable deposit.

Why do some flavors cost more than others?

That’s a great question. I don’t list a base price for any of my cakes because not all ingredients cost the same and some flavors require more ingredients and steps than others. If I listed a base price for all cakes, you might be paying more than necessary if you chose a flavor such as vanilla.

How far will you travel for delivery?

I will travel as far as you need for me to. Mileage rates will apply.

How much cake should I order?

Rule of thumb is generally 75% -80% of total number of guests invited. If serving alcohol, you might be able to reduce the percentage slightly.

How many flavors can I order?

Each tier may be a different flavor. Totally up to you!

How many mini desserts do I need?

It is customary to provide three to four mini desserts per guest.

Can I rent a cake stand or dessert display for my event?

Absolutely! Cake stands and dessert displays are available with your order. Have a look and let me know what might help to complete the aesthetic of your event.

What is the rental deposit for?

The deposit is 100% refundable if the rental is returned within four days of event and undamaged.

Can I pick-up my wedding cake?

The truth is, most people aren't quite as careful. It’s likely the bride would be sending someone else on this errand. While the cake is structurally sound, it should still be handled delicately. All wedding cakes will be delivered to the set venue.

When will my wedding cake be delivered?

You can expect your wedding cake to be delivered one and a half hours prior to the ceremony. If your cake is going to be displayed outdoors during the warmer months, please make arrangements at the venue for the cake to be refrigerated until an hour before the cake cutting, and it should never be in direct sunlight. After all, buttercream is made with butter; it will melt if exposed to extreme temperatures for very long. If setting up your dessert display, I will arrive two hours prior to ceremony.

Do you have a store front?

No, I am a home based registered business with a food handler’s certification.

Can I change the size, flavors, or design of my cake after I have made a deposit?

Absolutely! You may make changes up to thirty days from the event date. We’ll just adjust your deposit (if necessary), and update your final payment.

May I make payments on my balance?

Sure! Send what you can, when you can.

What if I need to cancel my order?

Unfortunately, sometimes plans change and events need to be cancelled. Although you won’t receive your deposit, any balance payments made prior to the balance due date will be refunded.

What if I need to cancel within a week of my event?

No refunds will be made at this time.

Can I reschedule if I need to cancel?

I will be happy to try to accommodate your new schedule. The new date must be within 30 days of the cancelled event, barring I have an available date. There are no extra fees to reschedule, but just know that available dates are limited.

Do you offer sheet cakes?

I do not offer sheet cakes.

Are you available to cut and serve cake at my venue?

I would be honored! This can easily be added to your quote. Just let me know at the consultation so that I can clear my calendar that day. Unfortunately, I may not be able to commit later on due to other bookings.
